I am passionate about teaching and broadening participation in Computer Science, and supporting undergraduate research in CS Education and Cyber Physical Systems.
I primarily teach computer systems courses, including Introduction to Computer Systems, Computer Networks, and the Internet of Things.
My current scholarship focuses on:- improving the admissions pipeline and academic success of transfer students
- surfacing hidden insights into assessment and feedback quality from course data to improve instruction
- exploring unconventional methods to boost student engagement with course syllabi
News
- June 26, 2026: Attended the UC STEM Teaching Professor Network (TPN) Conference at UC Riverside, where CS faculty from across the UC system got a little silly.
- May 27, 2026: Served as a panelist for "Empowering Women in STEM," alongside Maygan Cline (Geosyntec, SB Women in STEM), sharing perspectives on navigating college, grad school, and careers in STEM.
- April 17, 2026: Represented UCSB at the CS Transfer Pathways Conference at UC Irvine, alongside 6 UCs, 4 CSUs, and 10 CCs, to discuss challenges in the California transfer student pipeline and ways to address them.
- April 1, 2026: Restarted Open Lab hours (originally started by Phill Conrad) as a home for TA/ULA office hours after CSIL went away. In S26, 9 courses and 28 TAs/ULAs held over 520 hours of office hours through Open Lab.
- March 28, 2026: Pranav and Annika presented a poster on "ML-Driven Course Articulation for California Community Colleges" at the 19th CCSC Southwest Region Conference 2026. They won 3rd place for Best Poster!
- September 22, 2025: Our paper "fReeLoaders: An IoT Ecosystem for Real-Time Deadline-Driven Task Scheduling using Reinforcement Learning" was accepted at ACM/IEEE SEC 2025!
- July 1, 2024: Joined UCSB as an assistant teaching faculty!
- April 17, 2024: Graduated from University of Virginia!
- March 22, 2024: Presented a paper "Experiences Teaching a Wireless for the Internet of Things Course Cooperatively at Multiple Universities" at ACM SIGCSE 2024, Portland, OR.
- May 4, 2023: Wrapped up the Wireless for IoT course which I co-taught with Prof. Brad Campbell. Check out the cool IoT wireless projects our students created here.
- May 3, 2023: Won the University of Virginia CS department's Outstanding Graduate Teaching Award!
